Delivered fresh, never frozen.

The Broad Breasted White Turkey is the most popular breed for Thanksgiving in America. This variety of turkey is known for having a larger breast as well as tender, succulent meat. The USDA certified organic regulations require that the animals are raised in living conditions accommodating their natural behaviors (like the ability to graze on pasture), fed 100% organic feed and forage, and not administered antibiotics or hormones. Koch's Turkey Farm raises these turkeys without antibiotics or hormones and supplements their diet with locally grown, non-GMO feed.

Koch's Turkey Farm

Tamaqua, PA

Koch's Turkey Farm is a third generation family farm that values the traditional standards of their Pennsylvania Dutch Heritage. Started in 1939 by Roscoe and his wife, Emma, Koch's has been a pioneer in being one of the first to grow antibiotic-free turkeys with an all-vegetarian diet. Koch's has gradually grown from a small, mom and pop operation to a fully integrated, hatchery, small in-house processing plant and an all natural feed mill. Their feed contains no synthetic herbicides or pesticides and no animal by-products and is made from locally grown produce. Koch's Turkey Farm is both Certified Humane® and GAP (Global Animal Partnership) Certified. As one of the few family-owned turkey farms left, their high standards and practices result in a stress free life for their birds, which in turn results in a tender, great tasting turkey for you and your family to enjoy.

Turkey will be "hard-chilled"--see below for more info! Keep refrigerated at 33°F to 40°F for no more than 2 days before cooking. Place your turkey in the coldest part of the refrigerator, usually the meat drawer or the bottom shelf.

Store in the freezer if planning to consume more than 2 days after delivery. Food safety regulations recommend that for every four pounds of turkey, you allot 24 hours for defrosting in the fridge.

Hard-Chilled

Turkey doesn't freeze until it gets to 26 degrees Fahrenheit. But, the quality declines and food safety risks increase the warmer a turkey is stored. This is why turkeys labeled "Fresh" are almost always "hard-chilled." This is a fancy industry term meaning they’re held between 26 and 32 degrees so they never freeze, but still stay fresh and safe to eat. Plus, if you buy a hard-chilled bird, you can freeze without risk because it's never been frozen before! This is the best way to ensure that you get a quality bird that has time to fully thaw before cooking.
